Copper End ring and Rotor Bars are one of the most important components of an electric motor. In induction motors, they are particularly important. They play a crucial role in the conversion of electrical energy into mechanical energy, which enables the motor to generate a rotary motion. The rotor bars are usually made of copper or aluminium and are strategically placed in the core of the rotor to provide the necessary support.
The primary function of the rotor bars is to conduct the induced current within the rotor in an induction motor. The stator windings create a rotating magnetic field when the motor is energised. By electromagnetic induction, this rotating magnetic field induces a current in the rotor bars.
The rotor bars are made of conductive material. They allow the induced current to flow through them. As the current flows, it creates its own magnetic field. This magnetic field interacts with the rotating magnetic field of the stator. This interaction creates a torque that causes the rotor to rotate.
