The rotor bars are typically made of copper or aluminium and are strategically positioned in the core of the rotor.
Function: In an induction motor, the primary function of the rotor bars is to conduct the induced current within the rotor. When the motor is energised, the stator windings produce a rotating magnetic field. This rotating magnetic field induces a current in the rotor bars by electromagnetic induction.
The rotor bars are made of conductive material. They allow the induced current to flow through them. As the current flows, it creates its own magnetic field. This magnetic field interacts with the rotating magnetic field of the stator. This interaction creates a torque that causes the rotor to rotate.
